BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST

Jeanne E. Knight

Jeanne grew up in the Coachella Valley in southern California near Palm Springs moving from balmy weather to Minnesota at age 20.

She majored in fine art at the University of Wisconsin in Superior, WI, the University of MN in Minneapolis and the San Francisco College of Art and Design. Her training included drawing, oil painting, watercolor, ceramics, sculpture and foundry. Her career took her back to the San Francisco area for 10 years, then to St. George Utah for another 10 before returning to Minnesota. Although it may seem backward to move from a warm climate to a cold one to retire, Jeanne has a deep love of Cook County where she has spent summers for 35 years and where she now makes her home.

In California, Jeanne belonged to the Pleasanton Art League and the Livermore Art Association where she served as Program Director, Treasurer, Vice President and President. In St George, Utah Jeanne was a founding member of the S. Utah Watercolor Society and served as their treasurer until moving back to Minnesota in 2005.

In addition to her formal training, Jeanne has studied with many fine artists including mentors Len Petersen; painter and sculptor, painter John Peyton and ceramicist Warren Westerberg.

Her work has been featured in galleries in Palo Alto and Livermore, CA and in St. George, Utah. She has been honored with several one-man shows and has won numerous awards.

Jeanne now divides her time between her home in Lutsen, MN, Minneapolis and Orange Beach, AL where she finds a wonderful variety of subjects for her art.
